Legacy of culture change

There you are, minding your own business, striving to be the best you know yourself to be or that you see yourself becoming.

When suddenly, THIS happens:
  • Parents look at you disapprovingly.
  • Peers laughing at you.
  • Bully abusing you.
  • Police stopping you in racial profiling.
  • Application denied due to ethnic name or gender.
  • Wedding not allowed because the law forbids same sex marriage.
  • Someone jealously sabotages you.
  • Etc etc.

You are strong and resilient and can move beyond much of these hurts and attacks, if only stuffing them down inside you and adding a brick of armor around you for future protection. One brick is heavy. Many bricks can damage your wings and shelter you to the point of being hidden completely.

That tickle of hurt and unjust actions against you don’t go away on its own. It works to protect you, often without alert. More instinctual. You come out “sideways” in your projections and you wonder why. It’s embarrassing or “unlike you” and not in your control…..until you are conscious about it. Even then, it could be buried so deep that the resolution is blurry at best.

That little tickle becomes inflamed after too much.

It could look like this:
  • At medical school, doodling and dreaming of art
  • Yelling at your children and building up the guilt because that was not your intended response or action.
  • Martyr-like suicide bombing— or a lonely suicide
  • Wrapped in media-driven messages, making demands on others to go against their own beliefs in attempts to soothe your own untended fear
  • And on and on…..

These are not excuses for any of these actions that brought harm upon Self, others or this land. Beyond childhood, the responsibility falls on each of us for our own actions. Yet, it helps to gain an understanding of someone who was “damaged” or traumatized and not able to move beyond an early developmental stage for certain aspects of their lives. One can get stuck there and, as responsibility becomes this thing we know is expected by a certain stage, the dis-ease and pain builds like bricks. More and more bricks added and one aches to be free. One rebels to be free. One flat out loses it.  Again, not an excuse.

The more we can see how this happens, the more we can consider how important it is to build a culture of care, understanding and support for all people, living creatures and this land. Creating a thriving economy and the “work hard to play hard” mentality has alot of nuances that are often unjust and unsustainable, that create enormous distrust and serious conflicts of interest.
As a foundation, conscious care and support for our children and our own inner child as “stewards” of healthy roots and patient development, with a deep trust in "who they/we are" at our core is key to building a present and future that nourishes and thrives. As we do this, our children are well-guided to become good stewards for themselves as they grow. In our world, through policy, action, follow-through and pure love — through feminine energy — we are responsible for our own part of being and/or developing into good stewards for this great land of ours and all its inhabitants. And most importantly, to be devoted stewards for our Soul; imagine if we all tended to our souls and stayed true to ourselves. It’s a bit like driving on a crowded highway making sure to stay in your own lane at the right speed, trusting everyone around you to do the same. How smooth it could be.

  • Listen to your heart ❤️ , your soul and let them guide your mind.
  • Do what is right in your heart❤️ . Trust in your integrity.
  • Stand up and express yourself for Love of Self and Others. ❤️
  • It’s not rocket science. But the excavation and removal of all the filth and tons of muck takes sheer energy — physical, emotional and spiritual muscle that informs a mind to take orders from each pure Soul ❤️ .

Can we get there? I think we can. At least for our children….. What will be our Legacy?

If you want some help to find your inner clarity as a "steward" for yourself and others, book a discovery session with me, and let me help you help yourself.

Here are two meditations I like to do to remind me of who I am, deep in my Soul:
  • Negating false identity meditation
  • I am, I am meditation

Meditation #1: Negating False Identity
  • Posture: Sit tall in easy pose, connecting with your breath
  • Eye Focus: Closed, focused at the 3rd eye
  • Mudra: Comfortably at your lap-- you choose
  • Breath: Normal
  • Mantra: Mentally begin to think through all the ways you identify yourself starting with "I am _____ (fill in your name: Anna)", immediately follow that up with the negated version: "I am NOT Anna".  Continue on with: "I am ____tall, I am NOT _____tall", "I weigh _____ pounds, I do NOT weigh ____ pounds".
  • Keep going and keep this active one after the other, starting with the basics and moving into your qualities ("I am kind, I am NOT kind. I am a terrible cook, I am NOT a terrible cook," etc etc)
  • Do this for 5-11 minutes

Meditation #2: I Am, I Am
  • Posture: Sit tall in easy pose, connecting with your breath
  • Eye Focus: Closed, focused at the 3rd eye
  • Mudra: Right hand relaxed on your lap (in gyan mudra if you wish). Left hand in front of the chest at the level of the heart, with the palm facing towards you, about 6 inches away from you.
  • Mantra, Breath & Movement: Deep breath in to begin. As you exhale, complete the cycle---
    • Chant "I am" as your hand moves closer to your heart (about 4 inches away from you), then
    • Chant "I am" again as your hand moves away from you to about 12 inches away.
    • Then inhale again back to the start (6 inches away)
  • Practice this for up to 11 minutes.
  • Note: as you chant the first "I am", you can think "I am who I know myself to be". With the second "I am", you can think "I am more than I know myself to be". In all, the idea is that you simply "are". Instead of filling the space after "I am ___" with any specific identification (like your name, a role you play, etc), you immediately fill the space with that second "I am" because you are simply "I am, I am"

I am the Essential Soul Mama. I am a mama, a soulful-spiritual teacher, an intentional storyteller, and a lover of stories of all kinds, in all forms.  I write about emotions, parenting, natural health options, mind-body-soul connections, and anything that elevates our lives.
I bring joy & health to my life and my family with the help of doTerra essential oils (EOs)- just one of the ways to bring elevating vibratory frequencies into our bodies. And I am all about elevating!

I call this journey: "Adventures in Life Yoga". Because Life IS Yoga (think: mindful living; a sense of wonder and awareness). And my hope is to share and inspire and serve so that more of us can feel that liberating sense of freedom which comes from walking in our Truth and in our Self-Authority.
