The Lav lifestyle

That's "lav" as in LAVENDER of course!

The many ways I personally use lavender:
  • BURNS - and sadly this happens to me more than it should.... the careless chef, I guess!  Burn.... cool the area with cold water.... dry..... apply a drop or two of lavender. I generally apply neat (meaning no carrier oil) but, if you are not certain of your own sensitivity, use carrier oil with your lavender.  And if it's a large area burn, it's also a good idea as it helps to spread it.
  • HAIR LOSS HELP - if your hair is thin or thinning like mine, try massaging a bit of lavender on your scalp.  A friend of mine also puts a drop in her mascara bottle and it does wonders for her lashes!
  • CANKER SORES - thankfully I haven't had these in awhile but it used to be several times a year on the inside of my mouth. Again, remembering your possible need for carrier oil, I put a drop on my finger and rubbed it directly onto my canker sore. Yes, it tastes of lavender but I didn't mind that.  What would normally take a week or so to go away would be gone in a few days.
  • LAUNDRY - I love to put lavender in the dryer with my clothes. My lazy way of doing this is just putting a few drops on a hand towel and tossing it in with my wet clothes.  I recently found this video for making dryer sheets which uses lavender-- I'm wondering if this simple process (though not quite as lazy-esque as my way) will work on static cling.  Gotta give this a try!

  • SLEEP AID - one of the most well-known uses of lavender is for calming and helping you fall asleep at bedtime.  I don't usually have an issue falling asleep -- meditation is another great tool! -- but when needed, I use lavender or doTERRA's Serenity (which includes lavender) on my eyepillow, actual pillow, and/or sheets.  It's also wonderful to put on the nose of your child's sleeping stuffy to help them feel calm and promote a sweet sleep.

  • EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING - lavender is called the Oil of Communication. It is said to help calm your insecurities and allows you to be more open and honest to project your truth.  Personally, I like to reach for my cinnamon-y Cassia oil to help soothe my shy-tendencies and to give me the courage and self-assuredness I need in those timid, insecure moments.  When I have a specific, challenging conversation to come to, lavender it is!
  • CHOCOLATES - here's the lavish "lav"..... melting dark chocolate chips and adding lavender! It's been awhile since I've made these so I'll have to come back to this post with the recipe. Here's one from doTERRA's site that looks good!

Lav it up, friends!!

Yarrow/Pom for radiant skin

All this extra hand washing and hand sanitizing in the time of Covid-19!

Enter: doTERRA's YARROW/POM oil.  It's yarrow essential oil and cold-pressed pomengranate seed oil.....and it's this surprising and lovely rich blue color!  With its light floral scent, it helps revitalize my skin and, as it turns out, has many other benefits: antioxidant & healthy metabolic function support, calming properties, and has benefits for our cells.
Anytime I get to offer myself a self-care ritual --sometimes switching out one for another (ie. I'm using this instead of my Frankincense right now) -- it is like a small gift to myself. Especially when times are uncertain and routines are disrupted, it's a good idea to look for ways to give attention to your well-being and health.  For what you pay attention to, grows.

Love and light. Radiate.
