ESSENTIAL SOUL FOR THE HOME

living, healing, and vibrating with doTerra essential oils

The Welcome:  Home Freshening & Sanitizing

Diffusers:
I like to have cool mist diffusers in a few spots in my home--in the living room and in the bedrooms. Depending on the size of the room, I usually use 4-8 drops.

Clay diffusers are also handy for bedside and in the bathrooms. (Ask me about DIY clay diffusers). 1-3 drops, depending on how long the diffuser holds the scent.

Spritzers:
These are great for your linens and for your bathrooms. You can also make fairy dust spritzers for the kiddos.
Read here about what bottles to use.

My favorite oils to diffuse & spritz:
In the main shared spaces, I love the smell of Lemon or Clove and, during back-to-school or cold/flu season, OnGuard.  There are many great aromas for anytime-- it's totally up to you!

In my workspace, I love Vetiver or Ginger for focus.

My happy blend is Balance with Wild Orange.  A good one to spritz as well as carry in your purse in a roller bottle.

Fairy Dust Spritzers for kids-- doTerra has a line of blends for kids in rollerballs with names like Calmer, Thinker, Brave, Rescuer, Strong, and Steady. Try these blends yourself in a spritzer bottle. Here are the combos.
YOUR TURN: the options are aplenty and you get to choose! If you would like help picking oils, email me here.

The Care:  DIY Home Cleaning

About the bottle for your DIY product-- glass is best! Read more here.
Super Fast All-Purpose Spray:  1-1/2 cups water + 1/4 cup white vinegar + 2 drops non-toxic dish soap (I love Atomy dish soap) + 15 drops Lemon + 15 drops Melaleuca.  You can choose different oils.
Ant Spray:  1/4 cup water + 15 drops Peppermint + 3 drops Clove (or 5-10 drops of a citrus oil).  Shake before use, spray baseboards and anywhere ants are getting in.
Toilet Bowl Cleaner:   ½ cup of baking soda + 10 drops Melaleuca (tea tree oil) + ¼ cup of white vinegar. Place all ingredients directly into the bowl. Scrub as the vinegar and baking soda react. Sparkle

Wood Polish and Duster:  1 cup of olive oil + 1 cup of white distilled vinegar + 15 drops of Arborvitae. Combine in a glass spray bottle.  Dust AND polish at once!  Enjoy the woodsy smell-- ahhhh
Tub & Tile Spray:  1 cup white vinegar + 4 teaspoons castile soap + 10 drops each of Melaleuca (tea tree oil) and Eucalyptus. Combine ingredients in a glass spray bottle. Shake well, and spray generously on tub and tile. Allow to sit for 5–10 minutes and wipe clean.
Soft Scrub Cleanser:  ¾ rounded cup baking soda + ¼ cup unscented liquid castile soap-- combine.  Add 1 Tbsp water & stir. Add 1 Tbsp vinegar + 5-10 drops of Lemon essential oil --stir & create a soft paste.
Make in small batches (this recipe is enough for 2-4 applications), store in an airtight container. To use, apply and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Scrub, then take a wet cloth and wipe clean.
* I also like to add Rosemary essential oil to this.  You can experiment with different oils.

The 10-Day Home Cleaning Challenge

Email me if you'd like some accountability & supportive cheering for your 10-days. You might change up some of the days to meet your needs too. I'd love to help make this fun!

This is a great way to begin using your oils for home cleaning --or perhaps discover a new DIY cleaning supply for your home.

The non-EO ingredients called for in this 10-day doTerra essential oil cleaning challenge are:
  • glass spray bottles
  • lint-free cloths, toilet bowl scrubber
  • new air filter (for day 2)
  • white vinegar
  • water
  • baking soda
  • castille soap
  • rubbing alcohol
You can replace items as applicable to meet your needs.

Day One: Windows
Combine 1 cup of white vinegar with 1 cup water, and 10 drops Lemon in spray bottle. Spray on the glass and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth (or, if you can find a soy-based newspaper this will actually clean your windows lint-free too.)

Day Two: Install a new air filter
This makes the list because of the importance of having clean air in our homes. If it’s been a bit since you changed your air filter, it’s time to switch it out. If you’re already replacing it regularly, great job! Either way, add three drops of Purify to your air filter to help purify the air in your home.

Day Three: Furniture polish and duster
For wood furniture, add 15 drops of Arborvitae to 1 cup of olive oil, and 1 cup of white distilled vinegar to a glass spray bottle. The best part about this cleaner is that it both dusts and polishes—no need for expensive cleaners.

Day Four: Countertops
Fill a spray bottle with water and add doTERRA On Guard® to clean all countertops and surfaces. (Make sure each time you use it that you shake it well before spraying!)

Day Five: Dishwasher
Add Lemon to your dishwasher fluid to remove water spots from your dishes. Or, if you just want to clean out your dishwasher, run it through a rinse cycle with Lemon oil.

Day Six: Stainless Steel
Fill a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar and add 6 drops of Lemon essential oil. Spray your stainless steel appliances and wipe following the grain of the stainless steel.

Day Seven: Toilet Bowl
To make your toilets sparkle, put ½ cup of baking soda, 10 drops of Melaleuca, and ¼ cup of white vinegar directly into the bowl. Scrub as the vinegar and baking soda react.

Day Eight: Tub and Tile
Combine 1 cup white vinegar, 4 teaspoons castile soap, and 10 drops each of Melaleuca and Eucalyptus in a glass spray bottle. Shake well, and spray generously on tub and tile. Allow to sit for 5–10 minutes and wipe clean.

Day Nine: Stain Remover
Add 1–2 drops of Lemon on stains, let stand and then clean with a damp cloth.

Day Ten: Linen and Air Spray
Mix together 2 cups of distilled water, 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and 15 drops Lavender. Spray your linens and even the air wherever you want a refreshing scent in your home.
